Oh hi, i’m ben
This is the part of the site that gets a little awkward, because I'm not great at self-promotion. Hey, nice shirt!
I grew up in a very musical family, with both parents being enthusiastic pianists (classical dad, folksy mum), and two siblings competing with me for musical supremacy during our formative years. I started taking music lessons at the age of ten, joined my first real band in grade nine, and pretty much instantly began writing music. I attended a music-focused high school, and I studied Guitar Performance (a lot of theory and a LOT of guitar playing) at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. My post-high school band toured extensively in the late 90s and early oughts, and I’ve continued playing in various ensembles ever since.
Currently, I’m the lead guitarist and musical collaborator for the internationally renowned Brad Sucks, the lead guitarist for the incredibly fun (and according to my eldest daughter, maybe not so cool) dad-rock cover band, The Chesterfields, and collaborator/guitarist for the undeniably brilliant Bruce Enloe. I’ve also produced two of his albums:
Unseasonably Cool, and A Perfect Cliché.
I’ve been in many recording studios as an artist as well as a session player over the years, and I've been recording in my own home studio since 2005. I’ve written loads of jingles for radio, provided soundtrack music for TV, and even provided full soundtracks for a couple of documentaries. I love the challenge of finding the exact vibe needed, in whatever style is requested. I’m just a huge fan of songwriting, I s’pose. Check out my Services page for some samples.
